LEARN CHINESE TONGUE DIAGNOSIS ✳

Dr. Jarryd Harvey (TCM)

Hi, I’m Jarryd Harvey, a Doctor of Chinese Medicine from Melbourne (Naarm). My own struggles with chronic health issues, first led me to Chinese Medicine, and it completely changed my life. Since then, I’ve trained in Australia, Taiwan, the US, and India, and now run a busy practice helping people improve their health naturally.

In Chinese Medicine, there are four primary methods of diagnosis: observation, questioning, listening, smelling, and palpation. Within observation, we assess the body through facial diagnosis, tongue diagnosis, and other visual indicators.

Tongue diagnosis is one of the most fundamental clinical skills in Chinese Medicine. It offers a real-time reflection of internal health, providing insight into digestion, immunity, blood quality, emotional state, and the functional status of the organs.

By learning to read the tongue, practitioners can gain a deeper, more holistic understanding of what is happening beneath the surface of symptoms, often before disease fully manifests in the body.

In this course, you will be guided step-by-step in how to confidently observe and interpret the tongue, both for your own health and for your clients. You will learn how to recognise key patterns, build diagnostic confidence, and develop a more intuitive and integrative understanding of the body through the lens of Chinese Medicine.

Do you want to learn how to read the tongue as a diagnostic tool?

  • Over two weeks, you will learn how to observe the tongue as a diagnostic tool for your own health, your family’s health, and your clients’ health.

In this course, we will cover:

    • The foundational principles of Chinese Medicine to support a deeper understanding of tongue diagnosis

    • How to identify patterns of imbalance before disease fully manifests in the body

    • The organ systems and how they are reflected on the tongue

    • How to recognise which organs and systems may need extra support, and how imbalance presents visually

    • The meaning of tongue colour, coating, shape, cracks, and texture

    • How to translate your observations into practical food, herbal, and lifestyle recommendations

    • Live tongue readings using student submissions and real case examples

By the end of this course, you will have a clear, practical framework for interpreting the tongue as one of the most powerful diagnostic tools in Chinese Medicine.
